Cookie Policy

Last updated: 21/04/2026

This Cookie Policy describes cookies and similar technologies used by www.mechautilities.com, including browser-stored preferences and optional third-party tools that can be enabled via the banner.

For complete information on personal data processing, see the website Privacy Policy.

The website does not currently use first-party profiling or marketing cookies. It uses necessary functional technologies for website operation. Only after consent, the Community widget based on Giscus/GitHub is loaded.

1. What the website uses

  • Necessary technologies: components strictly connected to website delivery and technical security.
  • Functional local storage: the website stores the visual theme preference through the theme key.
  • Technical language redirection: on first access, browser language is used to route users to /it/ or /en/, without creating dedicated language cookies.
  • Consent memory: the banner stores the user choice via the mecha_cookie_consent_v1 key in the browser.
  • Cloudflare Web Analytics: statistical analytics service that does not use cookies or persistent client-side identifiers.
  • Optional third-party technologies: Giscus/GitHub widget on the Community page, loaded only after consent.

2. Purposes

Necessary and functional technologies are used to deliver the website, remember the theme selected by the user, store the choice made in the cookie banner, and apply technical language redirection without setting dedicated language cookies. Optional third-party technologies are used exclusively to load Community comments and related GitHub integrations only after consent.

  • Necessary cookies and technologies

Type: technical cookies and tools strictly necessary for website rendering, security, and continuity.

Managed by: website infrastructure and related technical providers.

  • Functional local storage

    Type: persistent browser-side storage.

    Keys currently used: theme, mecha_cookie_consent_v1.

Purpose: remember selected theme and cookie banner preference, without using these keys for marketing purposes.

Duration: keys stored in localStorage have no automatic expiry and remain stored until the user manually removes them or clears browser data.

  • Cloudflare Web Analytics

    Type: privacy-friendly, cookieless statistical measurement.

Purpose: collect aggregated data on visits and website usage without cookies or persistent client-side identifiers.

  • Optional third-party technologies

Services involved: giscus.app, github.com, and related domains.

Purpose: load the Community section once user consent has been obtained.

Any cookie or identifier usage by those services is governed by their own notices.

4. Consent management

On first access, the website shows a banner that allows users to:

  • Accept all: enables all technologies, including optional third-party ones.
  • Necessary only: rejects optional technologies. The Community widget is not loaded.
  • Customize: opens a panel with details of each category, where users can choose granularly which technologies to enable.
  • Close the banner (X button): equivalent to selecting "Necessary only".

The choice is stored in the browser and the banner is not shown again on every page. After 6 months from the last choice, the banner is automatically shown again so users can update their preferences.

Users can change their choices at any time through the "Manage Cookies" link in the footer of each page, or through the "Cookie settings" button shown at the bottom.

Disabling strictly necessary cookies or local storage from the browser may compromise proper website operation or persistence of user preferences.

5. Data subject rights

Under Articles 15-22 of Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR), users have the right to:

  • Access (Art. 15): obtain confirmation of processing and access to personal data.
  • Rectification (Art. 16): obtain correction of inaccurate data or completion of incomplete data.

6. Privacy by design and by default

The website is designed according to privacy by design and privacy by default principles (Art. 25 GDPR):

  • No first-party profiling or marketing cookies are used.
  • Optional third-party technologies are blocked by default and loaded only after explicit user consent.
  • Consent is granular: users can choose each technology category individually.
  • Consent withdrawal is as easy as consent provision and is always accessible through the website footer.
  • The banner is automatically shown again after 6 months to ensure updated and informed choices.
